Biography
Rod Henmi is an architect who has followed a lifelong passion for drawing. His travel drawings carefully document the quotidian details of places around the world, which while ordinary for their place are often extra-ordinarily evocative and moving when seen and depicted through a different viewpoint. His deep architectural understanding provides his drawings with a rigorous structure and depth. In the two drawings exhibited in this show, one shows the deep arches that shelter a series of shops in Naples while the second shows a typical winding street with a distant view of a church in the charming small town of Erice in Sicily. His drawings have been widely published, including in his own book co-authored with Iain Fraser, Envisioning Architecture: An Analysis of Drawing, and exhibited in several shows.
