Artist Statement

Fish by Design is a piece from Aqua Vitae, my photographic series about water, the life force of majestic nature.  Photography, for me, is a passageway to the divine, a love song. These days, contemplating beauty is more important than ever. The Aqua Vitae series is an invitation to stop, look, and experience the wonder of nature.  Fish by Design was taken in the Meditation Gardens established by Paramahansa Yogananda at the Encinitas Ashram Center.  Looking into this photograph, for a moment, we can feel the delicious gift of water, of life, flowing over us. 

Biography

Ruth Gilmore is a fine art photographer who focuses on nature and water, creating works that resonate with audiences across the United States. Her works have been exhibited in prestigious venues, from the reopening of the DeYoung Museum in San Francisco to the Governer’s Mansion in Michagan to the historic Liberty Museum in the Catskills. She produced a grant-funded documentary film of her spiritual journey in India and has been included in a number of articles on fine art photography.
