Artist Statement
Panther and Dragon is an ode to Black and Asian solidarity. The Dragon is a ubiquitous symbol in Asian culture, while the Panther is a nod to the Black Panther movement founded in West Oakland. Their two tails link together, and their expressions are fierce. This image represents not only the need for the two peoples to join forces, but also the formidable might that comes from their shared bond.
